They provide care in a myriad of ways – from assisting patients with personal hygiene tasks to serving meals. Working alongside nurses, CNAs are an important part of the medical team – taking vital signs and monitoring patient conditions, and then communicating that information to doctors and nurses. With an aging baby boomer population, CNAs are in demand and the need for additional staff continues to grow at a rapid pace. Certified Nursing Aides have a wide range of job opportunities to choose from, which include working in state, local and private hospitals, as well as nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and private home care.

Begin your path to success

You can begin your career in just a few short months! Students attend the eight-week, six-credit hour course and have the benefit of enhancing their learning and skills in both a classroom and laboratory setting. A vital part of the training also includes hands-on experience as students practice their skills under the supervision of instructors on-site at nursing homes, hospitals, home care agencies and skilled care facilities. San Juan College’s course meets federal and state requirements and qualifies individuals to take the State Certification Examination.
